Rukia and when she saved Ichigo’s ass

whyichirukishouldbecanon:

Rukia, the one who labelled mary sue while she’s the one who keep Ichigo alive in the first place when he challenged hollow and always tried her best to keep him alive. She threw her body in front of the Hollow so Ichigo don’t get eaten.

She warned Ichigo to go into hiding because Seireitei knew about what happen to her and her situation when she left his home. She even ordered Ichigo to flee from Byakuya and Renji when she knew herself would bear the consequences. Did she run when Renji attacked Ichigo?

Rukia chase Chad and make Ichigo to bring Karin home first because she knew Ichigo mind would occupied if they just left Karin there. At that time her power isn’t not left much but she taking that risk anyway.

She kept reminding Ichigo what he should do and keep it straight in order. She supported him psychically and mentally without fail. If Ichigo don’t want to tell her, she would wait until Ichigo comfortable to tell her his worries.

Because she knew, Ichigo would came and told her his worries and burden.

She just wanted Ichigo to be safe. She tried her best to make sure Ichigo don’t do anything stupid and end up hurting himself.

I was listening to the BBC Radio 4 reading of The Man Who Was Thursday by G. K. Chesterton (10/10 book, highly recommended by both me and Neil Gaiman, keep in mind it is a 19th century book but the imagery alone is worth the read), and the following quote struck me:

“The man who throws a bomb is an artist, because he prefers a great moment to everything. He sees how much more valuable is one burst of blazing light, one peal of perfect thunder, than the mere common bodies of a few shapeless policemen. An artist disregards all governments, abolishes all conventions. The poet delights in disorder only.”

And I was like… oh my goodness, Lucian Gregory is Deidara!

Sage Mode Meditation Postures: a headcanon

Well, my headcanon post about chakra natures got a great reception, so I thought I’d share another headcanon, this time about sage mode.

We get to see the basics of training to be a Toad Sage in canon, and a little bit about becoming a Snake Sage, and absolutely nothing about a Slug Sage, which is a travesty.

So Naruto sits in lotus posture to meditate to collect nature energy… well actually it’s the asana known as easy or pleasant pose but he SHOULD be in lotus position dammit. (Feet should be on top of the thighs, not simply cross-legged.)

We get a brief one panel look in the manga at Kabuto visiting the White Snake Sage, but that’s not enough to know what the traditional snake method of acquiring sage energy is, other than that there is a trial by being bitten and injected with natural energy. And, again, no slug sage, although Hashirama is a ???? sage which he learned by ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

Yeah, Kishimoto is not a worldbuilder…

Anyway. So when I wanted to make Sakura a Slug Sage, I thought it would be only natural that the Slug method would involve a different pose than the Toad method. Slug-Toad-Snake reminds me a lot of the Hindu Trimurti dynamic, creation – preservation – destruction. So I opted for a different asana for Slug Sage Mode energy gathering, the so-called child’s pose:

And while I don’t know if it’ll come up in the story, for Snake Sage Mode the traditional pose would be corpse pose:

As with all my headcanons, feel free to use them, no need to credit 😀

All I can say in response is: do you think Sakura ever accidentally headbutted the ground in her enthusiasm to train? Follow up question, did she crack the ground open or just rebound and shiftily look around to check if anyone saw her do that?

#lol @ sausage just flopping on the ground#is he napping?#no he’s totally working on sage mode#for defs#XD

Real talk though! I don’t believe Shippuden!Sasuke would have been capable of achieving Sage Mode, at least not as I headcanon it being obtained. In my mind, sage mode energy acquisition always requires a certain level of openness to sustained vulnerability that I don’t think Sasuke would have been willing, or even able, to do.

It’s not even just about trust; I don’t think Sasuke could have let his mind relax to that point. With Snakebert it was different because Sasuke knew going into it that it was going to mean never relaxing any second, every moment warring between learning all he could learn from him and watching for signs that Snakebert might try to take his body too early (ie before Itachi’s death). That was straight up Sasuke’s alley.

Kabuto on the other hand, always lacked a sense of self and purpose. Abandoning himself to the energy of nature would have been even easier than it was for Naruto, imo.

Can I ask why you ship SaiIno? The pairing just seemed a little rushed and forced

fineillsignup:

SaiIno development is 90% the novels, so they aren’t Kishimoto in origin, and Studio Pierrot didn’t fuck it up when they adapted it (!!!!!!). I see SaiIno shippers occasionally on my dash hoping for SaiIno in Booruto. NO. DON’T YOU PUT THAT EVIL ON THEM. DID YOU SEE WHAT THEY DID TO TEMARI AND SHIKAMARU?

Here is a long post about SaiIno development in the novels and why it rules.

I wrote a one shot fic about them too, The Third Date (rated M).

I basically only ship Sai with Ino, my diligently broken son needs a very specific kind of person, and it just so happens that he has a lot to offer to Ino as well. Plus. Double crop tops? It’s a petty reason but it’s a FUN reason and shipping is mostly about fun to me.

Ino I’m more flexible about but Sai is definitely my #1 person for her.

Ok I’ve been asked now about KS, NH, and SI, now who wants to ask me about ShikaTema and then we’ll have all my description ships.

sasuke’s and jugo’s relationship received  lot of diservice in the anime/manga

original Naruto:

Juugo: I’m a monster :C can’t leave this cage or I’ll kill people
Sasuke: juugo………. u can trust me… ill b ur cage…….

Boruto:

Juugo: Sasuke!!! Sasuke it’s so good to see you… so uh… I’m back to being the servant of the guy who tricked me into believing he was going to cure me but instead used my curse to curse many many many more people and kill potentially thousands… also there’s no evidence that my rages were cured so I’m probably still regularly killing people because you’re the only one who can stop me… but how are you?
Sasuke: ummmmm ill… call u sometime bye
Juugo: do you want my number?
Sasuke: bye

re: Naruto ending, but what if the only ending had been an open-ended hopeful one (as in, 699), without that glimpse into the future? Ok, I get they wanted to set Boruto up, but really, the “it’s X years into the future and everyone is paired up and has carbon-copy kids” ending is the most awful thing that can happen to a franchise (besides a sequel-ish thing about the future kids that is light years away from the spirit of the original). Just look at harry potter! Fuck this kind of epilogue.

fineillsignup:

699 wouldn’t have been a terrible place to end it, but I have to say that “but did Naruto become Hokage???” would have always been an unsatisfying note in that case.

It’s just that “He DOES become Hokage! Except he misses his own inauguration and is overworked and miserable and out of touch with his kids and his best friend is never around and he sleeps on the couch and orphan children are still being abused and experimented on under his watch 😀 😀 :D” is objectively a worse ending than that.

I think an open-ended hopeful ending would be Naruto as a relatively young Rokudaime–18-20, let’s say, which isn’t ridiculous when you consider that Gaara is Kazekage before he’s 16–being inaugurated.
