Omg yes, for sure. I feel like since Iruka is really hardworking and always trying to do his best all the time, he would be pretty dang good at fuuinjutsu once he got to learning from actual Uzushio-nin. He would totally be down to learn more while at Uzushio, to add onto the basics he learned at the academy and come back to Konoha being specialized in it, along side Naruto!
Oh also, I meant to add this onto my previous answer too, but if you have any ideas you’d like to add to the AU, you can totally throw in your own ideas too! I’m definitely not the first to do an Uzushio AU and I’m totally open for anyone else who might want to add onto it ❤ especially since I’m definitely not the best writer and am 100% guaranteed to miss details omg
Hey there anon! Sorry for the late response I’ve been traveling so I haven’t been able to get to it!
And yes! I imagined it definitely wouldn’t be much different from the anime. Since their personalities are mostly the same as canon, I still feel like they would start off with animosity that slowly grows into a really strong bond. I feel like since in this AU, Naruto doesn’t necessarily start off as a dead last (since he learned basics in Uzushio which didn’t treat him like trash), Sasuke wouldn’t think of him as annoying as he first did, but since Naruto still pales in comparison in things like battle IQ or strategic thinking as Sasuke, Sasuke would still think of him as super impulsive and not cut out for certain things, but sees that Naruto is still good in other aspects. And honestly, I’m pretty sure no matter what universe/world the two are stuck in, I’m sure they would be a strong duo no matter what ❤
Team 7 will definitely be a great team in this AU and I feel like their relationship would develop a bit more smoother than it did in canon, not that it wouldn’t have its difficulties. Sakura is definitely a huge part of the team and if I was ever a good enough writer to actually write this AU, I would definitely make her her own person and develop by her own means instead of basing it on whatever will hype the guys up.

OHHHHH BOY GET READY because there is A LOT. There is no way I’d forget the MOST IMPORTANT, NUMBER O N E person in Naruto’s life. I actually had so much written for this AU and stuff I wanted to draw and you bet ur ass I spent like… hours thinking about how to add Iruka into this AU because he’s literally the most valid character in Naruto. I’m on mobile so I can’t post all my messy Iruka and Naruto doodles I have for this AU (which I never finished) but once I get my laptop I’ll just post them anyway lol
I was thinking that for the most part that everything goes down the same until Kushina’s pregnancy. Like instead of going to some place in the middle of nowhere she goes to Uzushio, since there’s seal masters there, so they can back her up if something goes wrong with the Kyuubi. BUT Obito/Madara still attacks after getting intel that the kyuubi jinchuriki is in Uzushio and release the Kyuubi there. When Konoha hears that Uzushio is being attacked by the Kyuubi they’re like “UMMMM what the FUCK” and sends back up, some of which happen to be Iruka’s parents.
THIS IS WHERE IRUKA COMES IN.
Iruka, funky lil rebel that he is, sneaks into Uzushio with the group of shinobi sent there, but only manages to watch as the Kyuubi literally destroys everything??? Still loses his parents and Kushina and Minato also still die protecting Naruto. Naruto still becomes the jinchuriki and Uzushio is left in ruins.
Iruka happens to be nearby once the Kyuubi is sealed away, at this point sorta wandering aimlessly at a loss, since he just watched his parents die?? And now the Kyuubi is apparently gone too. Feels bad because he wasn’t able to do anything, when he sees this tiny child next to the fourth hokage and Kushina who are both dead, and he’s like “o h” but he’s only aware that the kid is the fourth hokage’s son, but not the jinchuuriki. He goes to some Uzushio shinobi (because he’s also only a kid and can’t possibly raise him) going like “hey I found a kid” except they’re all pretty busy because Uzushio is tiny and so they’re like… more than halfway gone, so they’re like “Great!! Can you pls take care of him while we try to rebuild our nation.” And Iruka is like whfjdjwjjfj but really can’t say anything and so he’s stuck with this baby. While taking care of Naruto he grows pretty attached, because wow… Naruto is kinda adorable? When Uzushio-nin come by again to ask if he wants to give Naruto up to the orphanage Iruka is like “NO I’m adopting him” but then Uzushio-nin recognize the seal on Naruto’s stomach and they’re like “holy shit this is the new jinchuriki”.
When Konoha finds out, the council demands Naruto be brought back to Konoha because despite Uzushio being their sister country, they would still like the jinchuriki to be brought up within their borders, because politics™. When Iruka finds out that Konoha wants Naruto, he’s like “um I think the fuck not” because Naruto also just lost his parents and now they’re trying to take him away from his home country and fellow clan members?? Not on his watch. Knowing he can’t actually win a political smack down with the council, he (with the help of Uzushio to back him up a bit) wagers that Naruto be brought up in Uzushio until they finish rebuilding the country, and he’ll come back with him to Konoha once Uzushio is done rebuilding. The Sandaime is okay with this (he’s a foolish little man but still has somewhat of a heart) and using his position gets the Council to agree with this. They do, reluctantly.
Iruka continues to raise Naruto, until he’s like academy age, when Uzushio is almost done rebuilding. During his growing up tho, the Uzushio shinobi also just really start to care for Naruto and grow attached to him as they teach him fuuinjutsu and help Iruka raise him. And they’re like “there’s no way we’re just gonna let Konoha take him away forever” so Iruka plots with other Uzushio shinobi to someday bring Naruto back to his home country so they can make him their Uzukage because already from a young age it’s obvious that Naruto has creativity with fuuinjutsu and also u bet that Iruka drilled every amount of good manners he knows into him. But also on the other hand, Iruka totally comes up with pranks with Naruto and become prankster buddies with him, which Uzushio shinobi are really fucking wary of, because Iruka+Naruto prank team ups are DANGEROUS they’re literally both so creative with them?? Anyways they have a great time with that and Naruto loves his older brother a whole fucking LOT.
They go back to Konoha together and Naruto is literally only okay with this because Iruka is going to be there. Konoha only knows Naruto as the kid that like almost wiped out their sister nation and killed a shit ton of shinobi because the Sandaime’s way of explaining of why they were suddenly bringing in a Uzushio child into Konoha was as shitty as it was in canon. When Iruka hears and sees the way people treat Naruto, he’s absolutely fucking livid. Demands to see the hokage, does not hesitate to fight anyone and wants him to explain to those fools that Naruto is not a monster. Anyways, Iruka still totally gets back at anyone who hurt Naruto in anyway with some A+++ pranks in which he definitely meant some harm 👍
