The earring thing is absolutely adorable and beautiful, and I want to hear more about your headcanons for lawlu and birdlaw and anything else you have.

a very brief list of things to DEFINITELY consider

  • luffy discovers that law has more than a few silver hairs on his head (going gray early as a result of stress) and promptly ends up sitting on law’s shoulders and trying to find every single one. somewhere in this process luffy exclaims “you’re like an old man!” and law has to forcibly defend that he’s twenty-six, damn it, that’s not old (except for how it is, for law; he wasn’t supposed to live past thirteen to begin with, and certainly he didn’t expect to survive very long after reaching dressrosa)
  • law has alexithymia (that is, difficulty distinguishing between different emotions in himself as well as a hard time reading those of other people), which is part of the reason he’s so often baffled by luffy’s constant outpouring of affection
  • there is a snail with a small spotted hat sitting perpetually in the medbay of the thousand sunny, and a snail with the world’s tiniest straw hat in the captain’s quarters of law’s submarine

I’m really interested to know why you titled the new comic as “Kobayashi Maru”. My understanding is that it’s a Star Trek reference to a no win situation. Is the no win situation in this instance “living with Joker’s shadow looming over him” versus “dying from an incurable disease”? Or is there something else I missed? Love love love the comic by the way. C:

yes yes! that and also his original scenario was that he dies if he loses to joker and he still dies if he wins because disease will take him down shortly thereafter

the FULL star trek reference, though, is that law faces the kobayashi maru but luffy kirks his way through it because he doesn’t believe in no-win scenarios, just like with robin he does what’s needed to convince law to live and thereby cheats the test in its entirety

tbh although i do on instinct fear for trafalgar law’s death in the wano arc, i kind of doubt it?

law is oda’s arya – which is to say, law is his wife’s favorite character and the very reason we got to see so much of him. and while that may not be a super strong argument, it kind of makes sense? she’s p much the reason he even survived dressrosa.

i just don’t feel confident saying that he’s going to die. oda doesn’t even kill off characters that often, and with his arc over, i don’t see his death having that much of an impact on the story. law hasn’t said he wants to be the pirate king – if anything, he seems pretty interested in watching luffy cause chaos all the way to the top.

however, eustass kid has stated he wants to be the pirate king, iirc. it wouldn’t surprise me if he ends up getting mortally wounded or even dying in this arc, though i’m not sure he like… deserves it? or more accurately, i don’t think his story has reached the point where his death will matter to the narrative.

idk, i have no doubt that this arc will be painful (oda’s said it himself 😭), but i think at the very least, law is… probably safe?
