Aggressive guy won’t leave you alone? Give them this number (669) 221-6251

A new service is angling to help out women worried about how their rejection will be handled by overly-aggressive gentleman callers. It’s called the Feminist Phone Intervention, and it’s a brilliantly simple trick for socially active.

It works like this: The next time you give a man your number to get him to leave you alone, use this one: (669) 221-6251, courtesy of the folks over Feminist Intervention. When someone calls that number, they’ll reach a computer-recorded message of a bell hooks quotation — so you can “protect your privacy while dropping some feminist knowledge when your unwanted ‘suitor’ calls or texts,” the website explains. It works for texts, too.

We shouldn’t need this, but I’m glad we have it

odinsblog:

In America, poverty is a death sentence and Donald Trump and the Republican Party are slowly repealing The Affordable Care Act, making healthcare unaffordable once again. We need Medicare For All, and we need it now. No one should die because they can’t afford overpriced, profitized healthcare.

These are some of the people who needlessly died, just because they couldn’t afford healthcare. Unfortunately, as long as conservative politicians control congress, they won’t be the last.

Good morning everyone, and welcome to Radio Free Monday! It’s a big one this week so I’ve split “ways to give” into a couple of sections for you to peruse!

Ways To Give – Individuals:

rebelspyprincex is raising funds for their mother and younger sister, who are going to be evicted from their home after the death of their grandfather resulted in the bank attempting to foreclose and take the house back. They have about a week left to raise the funds; you can read more and support the fundraiser here.

Anon linked to a fundraiser for Alisa Sekerci, an Istanbul University student raising funds for a medical transition. She can’t work in Turkey because she’s an Iranian national, so she needs to pay for both medical costs and living expenses out of pocket. You can read more and support the fundraiser here.

tryslora is running a Kickstarter to print the first book of her original web serial, Commit to the Kick (you can find the serial at welcometophu). The book is complete and available, so the fundraiser is to cover ebook and print edition costs. You can read more here or support the kickstarter here.

theotherguysride is crowdfunding her driver’s ed classes; she has her vehicle and insurance all lined up but needs some funding to make the learning happen. You can read more here (including a couple of giving options) or give via PayPal here.

jabberwockypie and her housemates deadcatwithaflamethrower and drougnor have made the move from Maine to Florida, but they’ve encountered some undue expenses along the way, so are still raising some funds. You can check out the latest update here, or give to the paypal here (the paypal address to give to if you don’t use paypal.me is deadcatwithaflamethrower at gmail.com).

Ways To Give – Groups and Small Businesses:

Wendy and Brittany are two queer women raising funds to expand their microgreens farm, where they use energy-efficient hydroponic growing methods to produce pesticide and fertilizer-free greens. They’ll be able to double production if they meet their goals; you can read more and help out here.

aschwortz linked to a fundraiser for the Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop, a workshop for established science fiction authors. Funds go towards paying the authors’ expenses; past attendees include Ann Leckie, Jody Lynn Nye, Vonda N. McIntyre, and N. K. Jemisin. You can support the fundraiser here.

Ways To Give – Animals:

moonwalkingcrab’s cat, Fatty, had a bad accident and needs to have part of her tail amputated; they’re raising funds to cover the portion of the bill they can’t cover on their own. You can read more and support the fundraiser here or give via the KoFi here.

Corey linked to a fundraiser for Fancy, an injured and underweight kitten that was recently rescued by naamahdarling. They’ve hit the original goal but Fancy’s health problems, including a busted tail, are extensive; you can read more and reblog here or support the fundraiser here.

Housing:

ofinfinitespace and her partner signed a lease on a Chicago apartment – then found out they had a really early opportunity to move to LA. They can break the lease if they find new tenants to sign up for a year long lease; you can check out the apartment in Rogers Park here. It’s a spacious 1br near the Red Line.

And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can post items for my attention at the Radio Free Monday submissions form. If you’re not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!). If you’re new to fundraising, you may want to check out my guide to fundraising here.

ok so a rundown of our current situation

– olives childhood home got foreclosed on, so our place to stay is gone.

– her granddad and mom both have cancer

– her mom is officially not speaking to her anymore

– we’re looking at homelessness either here in the pnw or down in florida, and we’re going to opt for florida because we have a network of friends down there that we can couch-hop between, along with more jobs, and that gives us better chances. its going to be rough as hell, but we’re gonna try to get through it. (plus it doesnt snow there apparently (????) so i dont need to worry about that issue)

– my mom has offered to pay for flights for us down there, using money she’d previously owed us, and we’ll call it square. so transportation is taken care of.

– we could still really use any form of help by way of commissions/donations so we can pay for food, travel shampoos, ect. we’ll be buying everything from the dollar store so $10 can buy us several meals.

thank you to everyone who reblogged so far! 😀

sergle:

hey so my friend @aerodom has been in a really shit situation and, long story short, is in danger of becoming homeless.

He’s living with his family, and his mom has kind of just stopped paying rent. He hasn’t had any warning that he’d need to make preparations to leave, and now they’re being evicted.

He’s trying to fight the eviction but we’re not sure how that’s going to go. His family hasn’t really been able to help much and frankly the money isn’t there.

He barely even has enough to make ends meet as far as food each week as is, and living in this house has been taking a physical toll on him.

Donation Links:   PayPal   &   Ko-Fi

He’s also offering sketches for donations above $10!!

If you can’t donate, reblogs are very much appreciated. Thank you.

*PLEASE READ/SIGNAL BOOST*

Sunday, July 8th

This is a continuation from my benefit sanction post (please click to read about my situation), as I still desperately need help and due to a PayPal charge-back, I’m now back in the red and can’t even afford to eat this month or to get basic supplies, and I really need help to get these essentials as I have regularly skipped on eating for the past few days in a row now to try and make ends meet and it has taken such a toll on me that a few days ago I was diagnosed with a folic acid deficiency, due to lack of nutrition. I have been prescribed medication to help (I can show this) and I really need your help to get by.

**The amount I need get me out of the red and to cover me for some upcoming bills + groceries has went up to £168 as some bills were due on Friday and my lights are about to go out, my bank acc is in the negative and I really need to eat.

If anyone could spare any amount to help me, even if it’s just £1/$1/€1, it would literally save my life and, sharing definitely helps just as much as donations. Nobody has to donate if they can’t or don’t want to, I know we’re all struggling. Thank you for your help 💖

PayPalKo-fi☕or Gofundme

Please consider helping out guys if you possibly can, if anyone could spare anything to help me get food for at least today and tomorrow it would really mean a lot to me and sharing is also very much appreciated, thank you 🙏💖

erikadprice:

In segment #1, former Congressional staffer Zahir Janmohamed provides the following tips for engaging with your congressperson:

1. Do not prioritize online petitions. Even if a petition has 10,000 signatures, most Congressional offices only count it as 1 piece of correspondence.

2. Snail mail gets noticed.

3. Hand-written notes get read. Reps themselves use handwritten notes to communicate high-priority messages to each other.

4. Calls do help. It is better to call a home office (in the Rep’s state) than their DC office.

5. Follow up on calls and letters. This one was new to me! If you sent a letter or called in, check back a few weeks later and ask if the Congressperson is going to respond.

6. Make the rep afraid of consequences. I’m not talking empty or violent threats – tell the Rep they have lost your vote or donation.

7. Choose specific issues and call or write about them on a regular basis. Start small with one thing that matters to you.

8. Make it personal. If you can, connect the issue to a personal example. Talk about your feelings and concerns from the heart, if you can. Facts or speaking from a script is fine if that’s what you have in you.

9. If you can, state your name, address, and phone number in your correspondences. This communicates that you are in a Rep’s district and that you are serious, and gives them a way to follow up with you.

EVERYBODY knows (or should) that you DO. NOT. STOP. in Vidor, Texas.

It’s best to just run out of gas elsewhere. Whatever you do, black folks, DO NOT STOP IN VIDOR, TEXAS.

There’s a good chance you’ll get lynched or just come up missing – and I’m not joking.

also do NOT stop in Harrison, Arkansas!!!! (relatively close to OK and MI) a nazi town with a BIG KKK organization.
