This is why I love One Piece– this crew’s absolute need for and utter confidence in each other.

Sanji knows Usopp has lost all faith in his abilities as a fighter and his feeling of belonging with the crew. He’s even resorted to hiding behind the mask of an alter-ego for strength.

And yet, Sanji tells him that it’s okay. There are limits to what a person can do.

Sanji’s no good at precision-based distanced combat. His strength only extends as far as his legs (which granted, are pretty long, but still) and that isn’t enough to help Robin in this situation.

So Sanji, one of the Monster Trio, asks Usopp, not Sogeking, for help, because he is powerless in this scenario. They need Usopp and his long-range sniping abilities to reach Robin. He knows that deep down, Usopp hasn’t lost his abilities as a sniper, hasn’t lost his pride as a pirate. He just needs a little push in the right direction. Because he knows that deep down, Usopp is still the Brave Warrior of the Sea and he will never abandon his nakama.

Nami: Luffy! If you’re going to help you have to wear the right gear!

Luffy: Franky doesn’t wear all that dumb stuff!

Sanji: Franky is made of metal!

Luffy: …. how do i keep forgetting that?

Usopp: I don’t know man, but it’s what makes him half as cool as he is.

Luffy: do you think everyone was Kung fu fighting?

Usopp: s’what the song says isn’t it?

Law: I’ll never say this again but Luffys right. it’s pretty improbable that everyone was Kung fu fighting.

Zoro: i don’t know, maybe they were in a class or somethin?

Sanji: or a fight and everyone just happened to take karate lessons?

Franky: It’s a good theory but preeetttyyy unlikely.

Brook: Maybe it was a class like Zoro said?

Zoro: To break my own point, they’d have to all be professionals, you ever seen a dojo of white belts? Chaos.

Luffy: What about fast as lightning? Think they all knew shave?

Law: Shave is slower than lightning.

Luffy: i get that, but what if you’d never seen lightning just heard it was fast?

Nami: What the fuck are you guys smoking over there?

Luffy: Well… I guess they have to die.

Zoro: Alright.

Nami: Luffy, Zoro no. Zoro you’re supposed to be Luffys impulse control.

Zoro: It’s too early to be his impulse control, make Usopp do it.

Usopp: I did it yesterday!

Zoro: Sanji?

Nami: Oh I’ll just do it.

Usopp: Oh my god we’re gonna die

Zoro: we’re not going to die.

Usopp: fine. They’re going to kill us!

Sanji: You’re forgetting operation: Luffy.

Law: What is operation: Luffy?

Zoro: It’s always the third option when we’re in situations like these. We can either die, be killed, or inevitably be saved by Luffy coming in and trashing the place.

Law: Operation: Luffy means total chaos and destruction.

Sanji: Usually.

Usopp: So instead of our enemy killing us, Luffy usually does it when he yeets us to safety.

Law: I’m starting to prefer options 1 and 2 the more you all confirm and speak.

Zoro: It’s inevitable. Luffy will save us.

Law in a deadpan: woo

Law: but Jesus-

Robin: and Dragon his actual father.

Nami: Can’t forget about Shanks.

Usopp: His grandpa kinda kept him alive.

Franky: Mountain bandits.

Chopper: His brothers Ace and Sabo!

Brook: Jimbei and Ivan as well.

Sanji: Collectively all of us.

Luffy: EVERYONE! Thank you.

Zoro, Law, Robin, Nami, Usopp, Chopper, Sanji, Brook, Franky: *crying separately and tackling him into a hug* Happy birthday Captain Luffy!
