The
significance of the Temperance card is literal: it indicates a need to
find balance and moderation. The most obvious and practical application
of this is in overcoming addiction—a practice which Roxy exemplifies.
This card also stresses the importance of patience, precision, and
cooperation, as seen in Roxy’s long struggle to master her Void powers
and recreate the matriorb. When inverted, Temperance points to a
personal imbalance or addiction, or perhaps a source of conflict
preventing an interpersonal relationship from progressing smoothly—such
as the relationship drama and failure to communicate which plagues the
alpha kids’ session.
