made-from-galaxies:

“Regulus Arthur Potter, you were named after two of the bravest men I’ve ever known, and one of them was a Slytherin.”

A much better name than Albus Severus because Regulus actually seemed like a decent guy and DIDN’T BULLY CHILDREN. And Arthur was a great father figure who DIDN’T FORCE A CHILD INTO AN ABUSIVE HOUSEHOLD

marauders4evr:

Oooh or imagine this.

So Harry’s in the crystal cave with Dumbledore right? And Dumbledore just sent out a wave of fire to destroy the Inferi. Only Harry still sees a body crawling out of the water. And it doesn’t look like an Inferi. In fact, it looks like a boy. Maybe a year or two older than him.

And the boy coughs and splutters before looking up.

And his face melts with relief and he cries,

“James! Thank you! I know, I know, you’re going to yell at me. Save it for Sirius. Where is he? I thought he’d be the one to bring me out? Ingenius, isn’t it? The lake, I mean. The Dar-Voldemort put a spell on the entire body of water. It traps and preserves anything that enters it. The boat. The Inferi. And me, I suppose. It keeps us from decaying. It keeps us from escaping. Only way out is if someone summons us. Honestly, thank you. Hey, why are you staring at me like that? It’s okay, really. I’m fine. Knock it off, mate. You’re scaring me. Look, is Kreacher still here? He has the real horcrux. I told him to – is that Dumbledore? Why would you bring Dumbledore? I thought you and Sirius hated him? Where is my brother anyway? What – what’s wrong? Why do you look so s – James – James, what on earth happened to your forehead?”

marauders4evr:

Okay but you know that if Sirius and Regulus had been alive/free and Harry’s guardians, they would have known that something was going on with Ginny almost immediately.

Like the Weasleys grew up in a household filled with Muggle items and rustic, charming, quirky, things. It makes sense that they wouldn’t have been able to detect the dark magic.

But Sirius and Regulus? Those two grew up in a household filled with all sorts of dark, twisted, objects. It’s pretty much a given that Walburga’s idea of interior decorating was using objects from Borgin and Burkes. They’d be able to sense dark magic from a mile away.

Like Ron and Ginny would visit Harry one day over the summer and Ginny would be like, “Look at my new diary; isn’t it nice?”

And Sirius and Regulus would just be like, “Yeah…we’re going to have to have a look at that.”

Not to mention the fact that Regulus would know what a horcrux is, so he would probably be able to recognize it. And there’s a 99% chance that they would recognize the name T. M. Riddle.

I can just imagine Sirius being like, “Okay, we’re going to invite Uncle Mad-Eye to this play date.”

Several minutes later, the house is filled with all sorts of Order members who are able to take the necessary measures to destroy the diary before it even becomes an issue.

Sirius and Regulus both buy Ginny a Muggle diary to make up for it.

marauders4evr:

I lowkey love that Regulus is described as being less handsome than Sirius.

I mean I couldn’t care less about his physical appearance I just really love how that’s the way Harry chose to describe him.

Imagine if all brothers were introduced that way. In a novelization of Gravity Falls, the author describes Ford as being less handsome than Stan. If, in the books, Mycroft was described as being less handsome than Sherlock. Prince of Egypt opens up with the beautiful song that leads Moses to Queen Tuya and she picks him up and says that Ramses is less handsome than he is.

It’s just such a passive aggressive compliment/insult.

marauders4evr:

On his thirteenth birthday, Regulus used the money that his parents had given him to purchase a beautiful black mamba.

It curled around his arm and would hiss at him throughout the day. Regulus would hiss back, occasionally giggling.

Sirius would often stomp around, grumbling. Of course Regulus was a damn Parselmouth and wait why are you laughing what did you just say about me? I know you’re talking about me, Reg! Stop. Laughing. Reg.

Truth is – Regulus was never a Parselmouth at all.

He just really enjoyed messing with Sirius.

Can we have a Harry Potter AU where Regulus Black is the Death Eater spy turned potions master instead of Snape?

I can’t believe I only JUST realized all the comedy potential that is Sirius showing up to kill Peter 3rd year and finding his supposedly evil brother working at Hogwarts and having civil conversations with Remus about Harry’s grades

Please let this be after a full year of awkwardness of Regulus working with his evil brother’s ex

Sirius and Regulus are both convinced they’re the good brother

But Regulus didn’t do anything to actually help win the war. And he joined the Death Eaters too, and looking at his family, he probably threw the Mudblood slur around all the time. Severus, while remaining a complete asshole, turned his life around and gave his life to fight Voldemort in possibly the most dangerous position as spy. He IS the Slytherin hero! At some point, these posts are disregard of factual canon. (And Snape isn’t responsible for Sirius’ death, jfc.)

afirewiel:

“But Regulus didn’t do anything to actually help win the war.” Maybe not, but it is his intention that matters here. How was he to know that the locket would remain intact for decades after his death? How was he to know that Dumbledore and Harry would come looking for the locket? He couldn’t know any of that! All he knew was that Voldemort had made a Horcrux, and that it needed to be destroyed. He knew someone needed to step up and take action and that is what he did. I don’t think we should disregard his sacrifice simply because it didn’t help in the long run.

“And he joined the Death Eaters too, and looking at his family, he probably threw the Mudblood slur around all the time.” Yes, but he changed his mind. Why does everyone always seem to ignore that fact? People changed! People grow! I don’t think we should hold Regulus’ past against him when in the end he did the most heroic thing possible. And he was only able to do it because he had been a Death Eater. (He would never have even found out about the locket if he hadn’t been close to Voldemort)

“Severus, while remaining a complete asshole, turned his life around and gave his life to fight Voldemort in possibly the most dangerous position as spy.” While I don’t disagree with any of this, I have to point out that the only reason Snape “turned his life around and gave his life to fight Voldemort” was because Voldemort killed Lily and not because he realized, like Regulus did, that Voldemort was going too far and needed to be stopped. Do you think he would have changed sides if Voldemort had thought that Neville was the one the prophecy spoke about? Would he have cared so much if Alice Longbottom had died instead of Lily Potter? Nope. He only changed sides because the woman he loved was targeted and not because it was the right thing to do. In fact, it was quite clear that he still loved the Dark Arts. IMO his whole view point about blood superiority doesn’t seem to have changed at all. He wasn’t fighting Voldemort to stop him. He was fighting Voldemort to avenge Lily’s death.

I still can’t get over the fact that Snape was considered more of a hero then Regulus Black who basically died at the age of 18 to bring down Voldemort single handedly and it actually makes me cry that Reggie is forgotten by a lot of people. Regulus Black didn’t die for you guys to label Snape as the Slytherin hero.
