SO first of Rebecca always had such great potential as a character. Especially in the setting she was introduced.
You would think Oda would notice her parallels with Ace and work on that, especially because at the beginning her goal was to get his DF. They were both hated because of their lineage, shunned and ridiculed, having to live a though life since childhood.
One of her biggest problems is her personality didn’t match her at all, not her age or experiences, one way to fix that is with her age. If you kept everything the same but made her younger, still being forced to fight, hated by everyone, her attitude and approach wold make more sense, and it would be all the more heartbreaking to see a little girl go thru all that, still trying to be the good girl her mother wanted her to be.

But now hear me out, if the thing we change is her personality we can get even more interesting results… imagine if she grew angry and bitter cause of all this, hating the fact she was born, thinking she was worthless because of something she didn’t do but every one told her was her fault… see where I’m going with this???
The Ace parallels were RIGHT THERE ODA!!!! And so at the beginning she seems cold and heartless, but after spending some time with the good loof she slowly warms up to him???
She fights the same at the beginning, all defense and strategy, but then in the final round she forgets the devil fruit and everything cause THE MOTHERFUC WHO KILLED HER MOM IS THERE!!!!
And so for the first time in her life she’s the one attacking!!! And everyone is like “o snap” she’s never done this before!!! Diamante in all his shittery doesn’t expect this and during the whole Sabo gets flaming, Rebecca is holding down Diamante!!! Of course she doesn’t beat him that happens till SHE REUNITES WITH HER FATHER!!! AND THEY FIGHT TOGETHER!!! HER AS DEFENSE AND HIM AS OFFENSE!!!! AS A TEAM?!!! GAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! I HAVE SO MANY FEELING ABOUT REBECCA!!! SHE COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT!!!!
Little tweaks to her character could have made a great story telling device and it’s a shame it was wasted, also it makes her decision to reject her royal blood at the end to live with her dad all the more powerful.
