Maybe he saw through it cause, despite it being a disguise, Laws jolly roger was on his clothes, his tattoos and sword were obvious, not to mention you know covering your face with a bamboo bucket really isnt a disguise dingus. Youre cute for trying though Law.

Okay but, this makes so much more sense after the Zou Arc, where we learn Seastone Bullets are a Thing That Exists In Canon.

Thus my headcanon that Benn Beckman once shot totally Kizaru with one and hence the pausing is totally plausible. Or even just Kizaru is pausing because he’s trying to guess whether or not Benn has seastone bullets in his gun right now.

Because in One Piece, most of the time guns are useless. And yet we still see lots of powerful Grand Line pirates with guns as their main weapon–Benn, Yasopp, Izo–and we’re like “wait, how are they this effective when we see guns get shrugged off so often, especially by Fruit Users, of which there are tons in the GL?”

But then it becomes obvious: make bullets out of seastone.

Suddenly even a Logia needs to be worried.
