Isn’t the Grand Line bit on the wrong side of Red Line, though? (I could well be wrong – the OP geography usually has me befuddled. But I thought they were travelling clockwise around the world, not anti-clockwise.)
Young Sabo, episode 496, flashback-within-flashback. This is right after he got into a fight with a boy of the higher nobility who provoked him, getting hurt in the process (I wonder who patched him up?), only for his mother to slap him and then ignore him in favour of apologising to the other boy and his mother. 😡
I thought the anime does a great and subtle job of showing Sabo’s emotions here. First his tears well up – he’s still in a bit of shock, incredulous – then he tries getting angry for a split second – but then he closes his eyes and just looks so… resigned. Giving up hope he’ll ever get any true concern and warmth from his parents. ;__; Like ‘It will always be this way.’ No wonder he split for the Gray Terminal as soon as possible…
Every time Luffy defeats an antagonist or an enemy, within one or two chapters, whether it is because something entertaining or comical happened, Luffy smiles. There has been only one exception: after his fight with Usopp in Water 7, Luffy did not smile for the longest time in the entire series while non-combative; in the storyline, he did not smile for a whole day, but in terms of chapters, he did not smile for fifteen chapters.
– True (I wonder who first wrote this quote). I’m not sure if he might have smiled for a panel or so in a badass, “let’s do this way” manner before or during the fights at Iceburg’s mansion. But I do know he didn’t smile from the heart, let alone laugh, until he found out Robin’s true motivations and that she hadn’t betrayed them after all.
Reblogged because fanon is pervasive. But as you can see from these panels taken from volumes 12, 13, and 33, Luffy does indeed trust others than Nami with his hat.
As mentioned before, I personally don’t mind Luffy/Nami at all. I’m just pedantic about canon – and I don’t like the implication that Luffy doesn’t trust the rest of his crew as much as he trusts Nami. However, as pointed out by plothooksinc in this post, Nami’s still the only one that Luffy has given his hat to for comfort. That’s valid.
