Hi! I have a medical related question, if you have time. ^^ I often read in fanfictions that Zoro’s scar is sensitive, is this possible? I have a scar too but I’ve lost my sense of touch in it (and surrounding area) because some nerves were cut. :S Is it possible for Zoro to experience the opposite?
Well, maybe it’s a magical scar, like in Harry Potter, and it always hurts when Mihawk polishes his swords?
In all seriousness though, you’re right. When the initial injury was deep enough it cuts through skin nerves, and they don’t grow back, so the sensitivity of the spot is lost.
During the initial healing process it can be tender, and hurt while touched, but that should go away once the scar tissue has fully formed.
It could be that the scar causes pain, though, because the scar tissue isn’t as flexible as regular skin, so when it moves it could stretch uncomfortably or stuff like that. But mostly the area itself should feel numb. Scar tissue also doesn’t have the receptor cells in it that can register vibration or touch, so really, if there is sensation it’s probably pain.
So, yeah, those fics are not quite that accurate…
burned cinnamon roll, has literally been through hell and back, slightly charred
Ah yes, Trafalgar Law
