An old idea and an old sketch of mine for a modern!AU where Chakra was forgotten, but Tobirama got born with his overpowered sensor abilities. With no way to learn how to control, he get‘s very easily overwhelmed by people around him and music helps him focus.
The whole family gets into it, with very mixed results.
Tobirama is quite good, although very technical. Hashi likes to play different rhythm instruments best and is surprisingly good at it. Itama absolutely loves the piano, he is abysmal and no one has the heart to tell him. Kawarama does chello like he was born to do it. Mama Senju sings like the devil and Butsuma has the voice of an angel, which just confuses everyone.
Oh yes. The funniest part of that is that most of the Senju are really freaked out by the overprotective drive. Hashirama accepts it as part of his BFF’s personality/a Clan trait but doesn’t really get it? But Tobirama? Tobirama 100% Gets It and he’s actually given grudging approval regarding Rin and Obito hooking up with his little brother because the Team is So Extra about their interdependence on one another’s continued survival to remain functional human beings. The Uchiha ship it too, of course. XP
AT WHAT COST?!?!? is pretty much what Hashirama is wailing for most of the fic. Meanwhile Tobirama is remembering taking a beating from Butsuma because of Hashirama’s politics and Madara is remembering his mother committing suicide by combat to get between her sons and a (supposedly) “Senju” assassin. Those two are mostly just thankful that their little brothers survived and made enough noise while escaping to draw attention to their camp.
With a lot of paranoia and wagon circling, tbh. I mean, yeah there’s gonna be a shitton of them questioning the kids but some of them (like little baby Sai) are still preverbal, and the others were all trained by people who wore masks 24/7. The fact that our favourite ANBU team plus special jounin guest stars all have masks is just going to reinforce the idea that a positive ID on the perps is impossible at this point.
Good news is that all the kids agree that The Captain destroyed ROOT’s base and all the adult agents are probably dead. And Danzo-sama (AKA the asshole who was in charge of this bullshit brainwashing cult of child killers) was killed extra dead.
I’ve got the mental image of Danzo turning into a tree (b/c isn’t that what happens when the Hashirama cells start suffering breakdown?) and there are petrified sharingan eyes in the bark. Rin was very careful to ensure that the tree was properly warded b/c bad juju might be a thing but none of them could resist the urge to be very proud of their trophy. Creepy demon tree that is actually the corpse of an S-Class shinobi isn’t something you get to claim responsibility for every day, after all.
So nah, Tobirama doesn’t get to breathe heavily over Danzo’s corpse while he dissects it. Because there isn’t a recognizable corpse and the future shinobi are following Kakashi’s lead on the demarcation of information, and Kakashi Is A Giant Troll.
I mostly model the Hatake Clan kekkai genkai mentions after the White Dog lore from InuYasha, which in turn was modelled after the Japanese Yama-Inu legends. Because magic swords and dogs and white hair. So anything about the White Chakra stems from that general concept base, and then I expand as best suits the story.
As for Kakashi’s average chakra levels, I always saw the white chakra explanation as to why Kakashi survived having the sharingan implanted in battlefield conditions and then never needed additional genetic modifications to support the eye’s continued use. For examples from canon: Nagato’s body is basically being eaten by his use of the Rinnegan. Danzo needed to use Hashirama cells and halfway turn himself into a plant zombie before he could use the stolen eyes he had. But Kakashi? Thirty seconds after Rin pulls her hands off his face he’s throwing down with Iwa Nin and mostly winning.
Sure, Kakashi risked chakra exhaustion every time he overused the eye Obito gave him, but that’s why he switched career tracks. At the beginning of Kakashi Gaiden, Kakashi is being trained to be a frontline heavy hitter. A nuclear deterrent in the same way as the White Fang and the Yellow Flash. After Kannabi Bridge? He’s shunted into ANBU, where stealth and secrecy are more important than making a flee-on-sight impression.
So it’s not that Kakashi has below average chakra levels, it’s that for most of the series he’s operating at half capacity. So I can only imagine how terrifying he became after he recovered from the Fourth War. Anyone ready for a second, more dangerous coming of the White Fang? No? Well I am! XD
