Shiori worried for her son. It wasn’t about whether he would do well- Muta was clever, driven, and had all the support he could ask for between her and Mimi and Hiroshi (and the entire Aburame clan). No, it was the same worry all Aburame parents had, sending their children out in the world.

Aburame Shiori headcanon of the day: she’s the worry wart of the family and Hiroshi (her brother in law, but hes so close to mushimi and her that she considers him her actual brother too) has often joked that you can tell she’s coming a mile away from the anxiety she gives her kikaichu

Aburame Mushimi headcanon if the day: she’s the technically more optimistic one who tries to worry less and support more, but it’s mostly because she purposefully doesn’t think too hard about the whole dangerous ninja life. If she thinks too hard about her wife and son and brother having a career that regularly endangers them she would worry too much too. So instead she does her best to give them support, whether that’s kind words from herself or pushing them towards other ninja that can understand their problems.

She’s also gone through basically every first aid course available for civilians who don’t work in the hospital, both general and aburame specific, as you do when most everyone you care about is a ninja. She doesn’t regret dropping out of the academy though, its just not for her.
