Hey! Kinda late to the party, but I was wondering what you think of I Found and Something I Need on your lawlu playlist! (I ask because I also have those on my personal playlist and it’s fun to get other perspectives on songs :3)

will-of-his-own:

You are never late to the party! I party all the time…. a total party animal I am…. yup…. Anyway seriously though, I’m always happy to answer asks.

Both of these you mentioned are Law and Luffy romantic songs for me. I actually discovered I Found (lyrics and song) with a different ship in a different fandom. To me, it resonates with the notion that Law absolutely 100% did not go into this alliance and partnership looking for any sort of relationship of any kind, even a personable neutral one. But then, you know, Luffy happened; as he tends to do with people. So the lyrics of “And I found love where it wasn’t supposed to be/ Right in front of me/ Talk some sense to me.” is essentially him talking with himself over the matter of slowly falling for Luffy over the course of events. For him, the entire thing is just utter insanity. How could this be happening to him, right here, right now? He was supposed to die in this endeavor, let alone fall in love with someone. It’s bittersweet and slightly haunting to him that now of all times this is happening. (Side note that I found this choral version of it I am slightly obsessed with (x) and 10/10 would recommend.)

Now for Something I Need (lyrics and song), it’s further along in their relationship, specifically a good chunk into Dressrosa. I’d imagine sometime before fighting Doflamingo himself. Law has come to terms with falling in love, but he’s still like 99.9% sure they’re both going to die. The chorus is kind of the crux of the song being on here:

And if you only die once I wanna die with
You got something I need
In this world full of people there’s one killing me
And if we only die once, (hey)
I wanna die with you (you, you, you)
You got something I need
In this world full of people there’s one killing me
And if we only die once, (hey)
I wanna die with you (you, you)

It’s Law mentally going “Well…. apparently I love this idiot. At least I can go die by his side.” Which I mean…. he canonically would rather die by his side so I don’t think it’s not too much of a stretch. And the end of the song is that tiny instance of hope: “

If we only die once (hey)/ I wanna die with/ If we only live once I wanna live with you”. So in general the tone and feel of the song is a bit more peppy and happy, but dark humor underneath it.

Sorry for the long-winded answer, but hopefully it suffices! If anyone else has any questions about this specific playlist, please feel free to send me an ask! Or if you have any questions about other things as well. I am here and free.

Law: Ah a virgin sacrifice for little old me?
Villager: He’s all yours. Now please, Demon, leave our homes alone.
Law: Well, I am feeling merciful-
Villager: I wasn’t talking to you.
Law: What?
Luffy tried to a pole: Okay, old man, I’ll leave with the mountain guy. *points at confused Demon Law with his foot* I like you!
Villager: *running back to the crowd* WE’RE FREE! HE ACCEPTED THE SACRIFICE! HE’S THAT GUY’S PROBLEM NOW!
Law suddenly filled with dread: What?

kereeachan:

Wish we could do polls on here. I know it’s years off, but I want to know if we think when the Punk Hazard arc is finally dubbed we’ll hear Law called

1 Traffy

2 Tra-guy

3 Trafal-guy

4 or if they’ll just use Torao

What do you think? I’m leaning towards Traffy but the lip flaps might match Trafal-guy better since Luffy seems to mouth it like three syllables…
