Hi Phemic, just curious why you’re doing tavris in kinstuck when it’s such a toxic relationship? There’s other female characters to put Tavros with to align with his sexual identity within the story and I just feel like pairing him with Vriska is endorsing abusive relationships and more or less erasing the seriousness of female on male abuse

phemiec:

Because it’s canon and I’m trying to transfer stuff from canon into kinstuck. It’s toxic but it makes sense, story wise. It’s not a good relationship but everyone knows it, even Tavros and Vriska know it deep down, and ultimately it doesn’t last because it’s a terrible relationship. If I write any fic/comics around it they wont gloss over that fact, believe me. And if you end up thinking I’ve represented the relationship irresponsibly you can absolutely call me out on it, but wait until you see how it’s handled I guess is all I’d ask.

In Kinstuck, how does Terezi killing Vriska in Homestuck Canon impact it? :o

phemiec:

It translates to Terezi basically cutting Vriska off, ostensibly for good on Graduation day, telling her not to ever talk to her, or their friends, again. Throughout high school they’re contentious but people still talk to her and she has friends. But that’s the moment where it ends basically. Vriska heads off for college and travels after that and it’s a good long while before they see eachother again.

Does Tavros ever confront Gamzee about the awkward nature of their friendship? Even in a subtle way like just confirming he’s straight, out loud, in front of him (Maybe not even necessarily to him, but just when Gamzee is nearby)? If so, how does Gamzee take it?

phemiec:

No, in fact Tavros does the absolute worst thing he could possibly do and completely ignores Gamzee’s crush for years even when it’s ridiculously blatant, and never talks about sex or romance at all around him in the misguided hope of discouraging him. The most he does is often and emphatically tell Gamzee what a good FRIEND he is. Gamzee is pretty oblivious…it’s also kind of a matter of hearing what he wants to hear.

It all comes to a head when Gamzee confesses flat out the end of senior year and asks Tav to prom…and Tavros, who already has a problem saying no to things, and doesn’t want to break his friend’s heart, says yes…and then immediately wants to jump off another cliff.

Prom is, of course, a disaster. 😦 I have a Prom Night comic planned so you guys will get to see that disaster in full detail at some point but yeah, it…it’s not exactly the evening Gamzee had planned. 😛
