Any of the CYB cast Thor and/or Loki fans? I can see Kushina liking Natasha, tbh.

cyb-by-lang:

Kakashi likes lightning from Thor even if he doesn’t really relate, but would probably think Loki’s plot was a bit pat.

Kushina would like Natasha, though she’d wish that Nat had some kinda superpower.

Kakashi, Kei, Minato, Kushina, and Rin would probably have to avoid looking too closely at Bucky in the second Cap movie, since his story is somewhat similar to what Obito could have become. Obito would just be carrying a box of tissues to any screenings.

I know you watch Steven universe, so what gem would the gang be? Also how far are you on the episodes?

cyb-by-lang:

“Gem” is likely the wrong word. I’ve been discussing this with someone, so here’s the answers we hashed out:

  • Minato: Pyrite on the back of his neck.
  • Kushina: Fire Opal where her belly button would be normally.
  • Kei: Agate on the back of her right hand. Alternately, in the center of her chest where Isobu’s seal is.
  • Obito: Snowflake obsidian in the middle of his sternum.
  • Kakashi: Mica, underside of his tongue.
  • Rin: Jade, but over her heart.

I‘ve seen maybe five episodes.

The MCU Avengers Comparison No One Asked For

cyb-by-lang:

Disclaimer: I am not saying that these characters are direct equivalents of each other. What I’m saying is that these characters have some elements in common and that comparisons are fun.

Who knows, maybe someone will get a bit of inspiration out of this?

Gai is roughly equivalent to Steve,
because both characters are selfless, optimistic, give everything their
all, and how both rose to well above the human norm through hard work
and luck–and maybe some ill-advised experimentation regarding human
limitations.

Raido started all of this, because his actual
mission callsign is “Falcon” like Sam Wilson’s. Both characters are
probably the calmest members of their respective groups, and were drawn into established these teams when shit repeatedly hit the fan. They’re out of their depths a lot, but they’re doing their best.

Kakashi
most closely maps to Natasha, since they’re in some ways the coldest
members of their teams. Kakashi is the garrote wire, is a successful
assassin, and both of them have been doing this crap for most of their
lives. They’re sorta closed-off as a result.

Obito is
Bucky. Main character’s best friend who ends up being presumed dead and
subject to some degree of attempted (or successful) brainwashing into a
minion of evil? And they both lost an arm over the course of their
return to the rest of the story.

Kei most closely maps to
Bruce, as a generally mild person who carries a lot of anger and can
turn into a giant green rage monster that can be directed only by the
host’s goodwill–which often isn’t guaranteed. Also, Kei is…she kinda
planned for the jinchuriki eventuality, while Bruce kinda turned himself
into the Hulk. (But in terms of references and general snark, Kei definitely trends closer to Tony. A Tony who could turn into a rage monster and not just engineer things to death.)

Genma ends up being roughly equivalent to Tony in terms of his relationship to Kei. Fearless snark defines much of it, combined with a mutual interest in the most systematic of shinobi disciplines–fuinjutsu. Also, Genma has been known to get near-fatally in over his head on occasion, but differently from Tony. (But let’s be honest here: Genma’s closest equivalent in terms of personality is actually Clint.)

Kushina is probably closest to Thor, who is
a bit otherworldly, stupidly powerful, and can go toe to toe with the
Hulk. Also, her knowledge is often esoteric or unusual for most of the
cast, because she is a representative of the long-lived Uzumaki clan. Magic is really more of a science to both of them.

Minato,
as a precision fighter with a tendency toward ranged attack as a first
option (which is then immediately followed up by concerted efforts at
stabbing), trends sort of toward Clint. (But is, in terms of how he tends to show up in combat, a weird combination of Vision–fuck you, physics and a mild philosophical bent–and Nick Fury in sheer command presence.)

Tsunade and Yamaguchi-sensei sort of occupy the role of Nick Fury jointly, through the power of their combined grumpiness and the fear they can instill in others under their command.

Rin, Shizune, and Yamato take up the roles of Agent Coulson and Agent Hill, I think. Plus Helen Cho.
