Going to the movies with Shinso.
Years later Deku still thinks he has the dark soul of a thief…

AU where the reason Shimura Nana and Midoriya Inko look alike isn’t because of narrative conveniences or that they’re secretly related.
It’s because they’re clones.
#I’m not saying orphan black au#actually no that’s exactly what I’m saying
It doesn’t happen when Izuku finally lets Inko know during idle chatter when he’s home for a weekend, that according to All Might, she bears a strong resemblance to his deceased mentor. And maybe it’s because he’s in another room, doesn’t notice Midoriya Inko freeze for a few moments
It doesn’t happen when Gran Torino nearly loses his footing the first time he meets Izuku’s mother because the resemblance is uncanny. It’s chalked up to a coincidence.
It doesn’t happen when Eri spots Midoriya Inko and mumbles out a confused jumble of words under her breath, that if Aizawa was paying closer attention too, would’ve been, “Mama?”
It doesn’t happen when a missing or dead woman without an identity kicks up multiple hits in the system for various others: missing, dead, and still alive. It’s wiped from the system the next moment. It’s not the first time it’s happened, and it won’t be the last. The cop who tries to kick up a fuss about it, suddenly just, stops. Just like every other cop or doctor or concerned authority who’s found something fishy and bothered to look stops.
It doesn’t happen when Todoroki notices that one of the new nurses taking care of his mother looks a lot like Midoriya.
It doesn’t happen because of some new villain attack or the debut of a new villain, or vigilante. (If someone were to look, they would find a strange pattern of records of all villains or vigilantes bearing a similar resemblance missing. Further digging would lead to locked government files.)
No, it happens like this: Asui Tsuyu notices that her younger sister’s new homeroom teacher looks very similar to Midoriya Izuku. Like Todoroki, Tsuyu also dismisses it as coincidence. Unlike Todoroki she actually mentions it to Izuku during dinner at the dorms. This in itself would not be something noteworthy, except Hagakure and Satou overhear it and jump in. And that catches Kaminari’s attention and suddenly, half the class (or that’s what it feels like) is exchanging stories about having met or run into people – mostly women – who bear a strong resemblance to Izuku. Todoroki finally brings up the new nurse. Kouda signs about the cashier at the shop near his house. Ashido mentions her old babysitter. Shouji talks about one of his caseworkers.
Kaminari mentions how it’s funny that despite what someone would assume are unique features, there are a lot of people who look similar to one Midoriya Izuku.
He means it as a joke.
That’s before Ashido shows them the picture on her phone. Sometime during the conversation she’s texted her mother and her mother has sent back a picture. Izuku goes unnaturally quiet against the cacophony of noise of his classmates, as he stares at the woman holding a toddler Ashido in a onesie. There’s things such as a similar resemblance, and then there’s there’s this. Izuku stares at someone who’s identical to his mother. The same eyes, the same hair, the same smile.
“Midoriya?” Iida’s hand is on his shoulder. Izuku snaps out of it to several pairs of worried glances. Shouji and Kouda are both frantically talking – signing in Kouda’s case – about how the women are not similar, they just look similar. Shouji adds that he was young so he may be misremembering his caseworker. But no matter how much they backtrack it’s obvious they too are a little shellshocked by the picture on Ashido’s phone.
Just why do so many people have his mother’s face?
“You think I don’t know enough? Maybe I should beat the lessons into your skull!”
“I’m counting on it ;).”
KIRISHIMA PLEASE HAVE BETTER STANDARDS PLEASE YOU DESERVE WAY BETTER PLEASE JUST HAVE SOME STANDARDS
I just realized why Ashido and Kaminari are fighting Nezu
Because their main problem is not really taking things seriously, and Nezu just sort of… you CAN’T take him seriously, or you can but it’s hard, because he’s a small dog-rat-bear thing with a kind voice and a friendly face who wears sneakers with his suit, but he’s also a pro hero and the principal, and he has that scar over his eye so he’s GOT to be pretty op, and they’re gonna go in thinking “this’ll be easy!” and get utterly demolished
Me, shoving Kirishima away from Bakugo toward literally anyone else: Please have some standards
I was going to say “y’all have no idea how much I hate Bakugo” but honestly I think I’ve been pretty clear on that point
Reasons why Ururaka Ochaco is perfect (an incomplete list):
- Super cool gravity powers
- Infinity girl!
- Knows her own limits and works hard to push them farther
- Takes setbacks and failures as encouragement to improve, even when she’s upset
- Wants to be a hero so she can take care of her family
- Is very open about her seemingly less than noble motives, ie, being “in it for the money”
- Overwhelmingly positive and upbeat
- Tries not to get bogged down in one way of thinking, and purposely takes opportunities outside her comfort zone and strengths in order to overcome weaknesses and learn new perspectives
- A team player
- Smart is heck
- Tried to give Midoriya some of her battle points after the exam in return for him saving her
- Apologized for using her quirk on him without permission outside the exam
- Has cute little kitty-cat paw-pads on her fingers
- Seriously she’s just The Best™
- I love her
- That’s all, thanks for coming to my TED talk
You know, with the way fire boy acted in that first arc, I kinda expected his backstory to be something about how he felt he needed to prove he was as strong to someone who was maybe always looking down on him, or something at least reasonable… and I was pissed beyond reason when his ‘tragic backstory’ turned out to be that he bullied Midoriya for being the only person who wasn’t lining up to suck his ego’s dick. Like his anger at Midoriya literally resulted from Midoriya offering to help him because he might have been hurt. Literally it! “How dare you care about me!”
Pathetic.
I would be three thousand percent more on board with fire boy if his backstory wasn’t so goddamn FUCKING PATHETIC
His ENTIRE BACKSTORY is “I hate Deku because he won’t learn his place, which is beneath me”. He doesn’t even get a single sympathetic moment of “I have to prove myself”, no, it’s “everyone said I was amazing, even Deku, but he still cared enough to check on me, so I hate” BUILD A GODDMAN BRIDGE AND GET THE FUCK OVER YOURSELF YOU GODDAMN LITTLE PRICK
“What a situation. We are injured and cannot fight.”
Even if a fic hadn’t spoiled me for the ending, that would be the dead giveaway that the villain was a fake… we already know damn well that Aizawa wouldn’t consider petty little things like broken bones enough to stop him protecting his students.
Seriously, Aizawa, you’re not selling this at all. One look at you and all of them would know there’s no real danger! “Oh there’s Mr. Aizawa just standing there and not helping us deal with this villain attacking us” yeah right.
Oh I see that was what he probably wanted. “If I just stand here and don’t react like they’re in danger maybe they’ll realize they aren’t in danger.”
