As you may or may not know, I’ve been wanting to do a little comic series for a while now. And I’ve been struggling with where to start. So rather than start with the very complex, plot-heavy AU idea I had, I thought it might be better to start with something a little lighter with more wiggle room to experiment. That’s right! It’s the (incredibly self indulgent) parents AU with shindeku! I haven’t seen this kind of thing with this particular ship, so hopefully people will get a kick out of it!
This will prob be something I will pick at in my free time, and thus will update slowly. I want it to be low pressure! But I hope you enjoy it anyway!
(If you’ve got any questions about this au, hit up my inbox! I’d love to answer them!)
[sees AU of a tired, dark version of a character who makes increasingly inadvisable decisions and draws power directly from not caring about how concerning this is] i cant possibly stan anything else
Went back to comb through the story to add a bit more clarification that while it’s plot-important that quirks used to be described differently, Izuku’s assumptions that there’s a certain way of referring to them is false all the way to chapter 5, and he’s been totally freeballing how to refer to contradictions to these outdated systems until that point.
Also, slimmed down a bit of the scientific terminology Izuku tries to use. I didn’t bother removing the complex concepts, but I clipped the wording a bit so it’s more obvious that Izuku is explaining a conclusion he’s drawn – the way they were written before felt kinda pointless and meandering.
Also Also, added a bit more direction towards Izuku’s rant in chapter 6 – Izuku is trying to parse his issues with Kacchan and his self-image, but Todoroki is taking it – well, like he took it in canon, “a hero owes it to others to use the best of his abilities”. The punchline that he completely misinterpreted Izuku to have altruistic motivations instead of a need to take out his inferiority complex on the first open ear he can get his hands on didn’t deliver as well as I liked.
Most of this is just redoing pacing and word choice, nothing noticeable, just useful in guiding the reader a bit easier since I got 1 or 2 complaints (and I was having a hard time following my own logic.)
Tsuna: Wants to live an easy life, has existential performance anxiety, would drop out of school and become a NEET if it weren’t for his worries about being a burden, FIghts For His Friends
Izuku: Life-defining ambition, so hyped to do literally anything he’s willing to break bones, wants a major career out of his dream, constantly striving to meet his own astronomical standards, Fights To Inspire & Protect
