The most disrespectful thing in BNHA is that Shouto Todoroki’s quirk coulda been “Ice and Fire” or “Freeze and Flame” or literally anything else but instead they had to go and call him “Half Hot, Half Cold”. Half Hot. Half Cold. Like a mattress for picky couples. Like dessert ala mode. Like a microwaved hot-pocket.

He’s got all this power and all this backstory and all this redemption and he can literally manifest cascading mountains of pure ice and swelling pyres of incinerating flame but nah his damn quirk name sounds like a space heater and AC wrapped up in one. Like he’s the hot new item on 3am cable television for 5 easy payments of $29.99 plus tax and broken limbs. Fuck that. Fuck that shit.

Bakugou calls him Icy-Hot out of mockery and honestly? Improvement. Massive improvement. Bakugou named two heroes better names than they could come up with for themselves and this is the fucker what named himself King Explosion Murder. That’s a problem Icy-Hot. That’s a problem Mr. Space Heater. Mr. Thermostat. For the love of god save yourself from his terrible quirk name I’m outright begging you. Talk to the Quirk Registry people. Talk to anyone. Please just fucking contact your agent Todo Shoutoroki

Good Post OP, except Shouto “half my costume is literally just fucking ice” “my hero name is my actual literal name” Todoroki completely lacks any imagination or sense of style, so his quirk name seems like something he would come up with.

YOURE RIGHT

i’ve always thought of how

midoriya

/all might & shinsou/aizawa mirrors the other ever since shinsou was introduced???

shinsou and midoriya ’s fight at the sports festival was putting together two people who were told all their life that being a hero was not a feasible option for them on the same platform. shinsou, with his overpowering quirk, and midoriya with his then-self destructive quirk, were by no means an equal match up, but it served to show how despite having a strong & useful quirk, shinsou was not getting closer to his dream.

in midoriya’s case, he was a quirkless boy who’s always striving to do his best to be a hero, but with everyone around him either discouraging him entirely (asking him to work in law enforcement) or making fun of him. midoriya, at the point of introduction, was a boy with no real hope being given hope by his hero. all might recognizes that midoriya has the potential to be a great hero and that

midoriya

has the willpower to achieve it, quirkless or not, and then proceeds to aid him in his journey.

the same happens in shinsou’s case, but in a sense it’s more tragic.

while everyone told

midoriya

that he could be a police officer or someone who could help the heroes, shinsou’s quirk was always laughed off as a “villain’s quirk”. shinsou tries his best to enter the hero department and the sports festival is a huge example of that. aizawa recognises his potential the same way all might did for midoriya, and proceeds to help him out (aizawa mentoring shinsou during the forest training camp arc by giving him a training regimen and everything.)

this chapter made me happy because shinsou is finally getting the chance he deserves and i’m very happy for my purple haired son.

Have you ever wondered what the purpose of the General Education class is at UA? Especially concerning individuals like Shinsou, who want to become a hero, what about the other students? With some of them, their attitudes towards A-1 in relation to the recent chapter, it makes me wonder why attend UA in the first place. Maybe they were rejected from the other departments (Support and Management), not just Heroics…?

I mean UA itself is still a prestigious school with a highly recognizable name, so even if you don’t make it through the hero program it still probably looks good on a resume.
