So has anybody else noticed that Sober!Roxy is basically Dave?

Actually I have noticed.

Dave and Roxy are both TG and talk in all lower case with a permeating feeling of “what are you even talking about” with some obscure humor tossed in and are claimed by the fandom to have feelings for their respective John/Jane when in reality their interests go the other way.

Dirk and Rose work this way too, as they’re both TT and provide their team in general with advice sometimes, and try to take control of most situations when they can. Coincidentally they’re both known for having same-sex attractions in canon, having both participated in the two main gay couples of Homestuck. Going back to the way they type, they both type with proper syntax and capitalization, contrary to most of their friends.

I feel like it’s also interesting to note that both Dave and Roxy are actually pretty smart and capable, but hand over the spotlight to other people in favor of getting shit done behind the scenes without too much recognition. It’s a lot about restraint with them, they have the capacity to accomplish huge things and wreck it with their powers, but they tend to use them only when necessary for the most part, or just to dick around. Meanwhile Rose and Dirk are willing to really get their hands dirty in order to accomplish what they believe is right, and wind up screwing a lot of things up because of their reckless tendencies.

 The thing is, Dave has had a lot of his original identity crushed by his raising by Bro, and the stuff he’s liked has been pushed aside for irony. Now that he’s on the meteor, he has the air of a much more depressed version of Roxy, since he’s absurdly worn out by this point. Meanwhile, Rose seemed to have thrown in the towel and entered a rut out of grief and nervousness about her mother and Kanaya respectively, much like how Dirk reacts to his friends dying.
