Listen, if fandom can have a huge number of fics where Izuku meets Shigaraki or Sensei early on in life and becomes a Villain, then it can totally have fics where Izuku meets Shigaraki as a kid and unintentionally drags him kicking and screaming into the light.

And this can totally happen in a fic where they end up starting a Leverage like vigilante team because you know what, fuck heroes and villains, and every asshole.

Real talk though, it wouldn’t even be Izuku dragging Tomura kicking and screaming into the light, it would just be Izuku being Izuku that could honestly bring Tomura back into the grey zone if anything.

Because Tomura in current canon is volatile. Whatever affection Sensei/AFO has for Tomura, it still doesn’t change
that Tomura was chosen with the intent of fucking over Nana and All
Might. Who knows how deep AFO’s manipulation actually goes?

But Tomura as a teenager? Deprogramming him would still be a task, but tbh with how volatile he is now, he’d have probably been a conflicted hellion as a teen.

Like I can see Tomura trying to win Izuku over to Sensei/AFO philosophies, but Izuku is stubborn, brash, and also he’d unintentionally poke so many holes in Sensei’s ideology without meaning too. Because have you met kids? Kids are blunt. Kid Izuku would be cautious, but not that cautious.

Like take Tomura’s quirk for instance. Izuku would go starry eyed analysing it at first, but then the questions would inevitably come:

  • Can he quicken the time of disintegration? Can he lengthen it?
  • Do different elements disintegrate at different intervals?
  • Do all five fingers really have to touch the surface of the object
to disintegrate it, or through training can the effect still take place
if Tomura touches it with one finger?
  • Can Tomura through training his quirk, actually turn it off until he intends to use it?
  • On that note Tomura have you actually trained your quirk at all?
  • Wait if it’s untrainable and dangerous, why didn’t AFO/Sensei give you easily removable at convenience Quirk negating bands or something for day-to-day usage so that you don’t hurt yourself with your Quirk?

Like those questions are ignorable for a while, but not forgettable. and if Tomura doubts AFO, it’s the start of him being deprogrammed.

The more I write in this universe the more I’m enjoying it because BNHA has so many problems that aren’t addressed beyond punching it away and some pseudo-deep talking, and the more I look at canon the more I find that Horikoshi himself doesn’t get his characters, because:

LET IZUKU AND TOMURA BE ACTIVISTS. THESE BOYS WERE MADE TO BE ACTIVISTS.
