Prompt for the Rumor, Slander, Hearsay verse: a scene where someone compares Ace and/or Sabo to their Dragon-dad. Not picky whether they’re thinking about similarities or differences

sanjuno:

Ivankov had known Dragon for a long time. Long enough to have a decent idea of how the revolutionary leader thought. If pressed for an answer, the Okama would have put money on Dragon’s children being, well… essentially the man himself in miniature.

As it turned out, however, the reality of the situation was entirely different from the hypothetical.

Ace had all of Dragon’s disgust for the current world order and the drive to change it, but going in a totally different direction. Dragon saw the end result, the big picture, and he played the long game. Ace saw the individual lives that he could make better and did what he could to improve the situation of the people standing right in front of him.

Sabo had all of Dragon’s cunning and drive, and of the three brothers was the most similar to his father in personality. The major difference seemed to be in Sabo’s unashamed and obvious attachment to his family, especially his brothers.

Luffy had received the greatest share of Dragon’s ambition, and his father’s charisma without a shred of guile or logic to even it out. It was both inspiring and terrifying to witness.

Ivankov could see Dragon in the man’s sons, a new storm of revolution born within each new D, and he looked forward to seeing the world they would create between them all.
