TIL – In an effort to solve the extremely high corruption rate problem, Georgia (the country) once fired it’s ENTIRE police force. It turned out that the police WERE the problem and the move actually worked, as the country’s corruption almost vanished in the following three months with no police.

Here’s a direct link to the NPR article, since going through this stupid website sent me to an article about earthquakes in Canada.

It’s also worth mentioning that Georgia has a population of only 3 million and is roughly the size of West Virgina. Way easier to do national reform there than it would be here. (That’d be something they’d have to tackle on the state or local level, and god knows getting all 50 states to agree on ANYTHING is a hassle and a half).
