are you kidding me, this is exactly the kind of outrageous stunt he would pull. izuku announces the dog show competition on BNHA-verse twitter, and he makes a temporary website (like on BNHA weebly or something) about the event. within three hours, all the heroes and police officers and news agencies know about it.
an unprecedented number of people register and show up to the event, with or without their dogs. which poses a problem for the heroes and police officers: how will they arrest izuku with so many bystanders in the way? izuku has a history of not allowing any collateral damage, but in such a crowded environment– will that really be possible? it doesn’t help that people within the crowd are trying to convince them to hold off on arresting izuku til after the show’s over, and/or gravitating towards the heroes for autographs.
news reporters, on the other hand, are having the time of their life. it’s like a celebrity show or some massive gala; there’s an air of excitement and anticipation and cheer; everyone is looking forward to the event. it’s outrageous. izuku is more like an infamous celebrity than a villain, and it’s great. the headlines all write themselves.
izuku finally shows up, announced on stage by a fog machine and cheerily absurd lights. where did he come from? how did he slip past the vanguard of heroes and officers? he reads off a list of rules (all the competing dogs get special collars to mark them as competitors, free dog treats and refreshments are available, be respectful please, no violence or rioting, be nice to the friendly police officers who are doing their job, wave to the heroes, etc); he works up the crowd, invites random attendees to join him as judges on stage. (stupid clever izuku. he knows the heroes have to worry about public image and collateral damage. they can’t attack now.)
the entire event is so bizarre. it’s so theatrical. it’s got the same all consuming immersive atmosphere as a rally or a concert. everyone just gets sucked in. izuku is really a true showman. he has new and innovative things to say about each dog. the interviews are fun and entertaining. he engages the audience often and encourages participation. it’s such a weirdly uplifting and positive event. in a daring move, izuku even pulls a couple heroes/officers into his rhythm, coaxing smiles and laughs out of them and the crowd. (what’s the purpose behind this all? one reporter whispers to another. don’t know, replies the other, but maybe this has to do with the rash of attacks a couple weeks ago. is he trying to cheer them up?)
“and now, for the final judging,” izuku announces, standing up on the podium. he dismisses the volunteer judges. the heroes and officers settle back into their roles, tensing. “will all the competitors come forward!”
they come forward. izuku paces along the edge of the stage and gives a speech thanking everyone for coming; offering some kind words; etc. the audience is moved. izuku thanks them once more, and then he asks for a drumroll. the audience drumrolls….
“i’m afraid,” izuku says solemnly, “your dogs are all too wonderful. they’re mine now.”
a few things happen simultaneously.
first, izuku pulls out an assortment of treats and shouts, “HERE, BOY!”
second, the dog owners let go of their dogs’ leashes, and in some cases, command, “go!”
third, someone pushes open the exit doors.
the dogs flood towards izuku as he dashes for the doors. the heroes launch themselves after him. the dogs stream out the door in a glorious procession; dogs are barking; people are yelling; officers are struggling through the crowd; a POP and a BANG, and a huge banner unfurls itself onstage. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION! it reads. YOUR DOGS WILL BE RETURNED SHORTLY.
“HE STOLE THE DOGS??” someone yells.
pandemonium reigns. social media goes wild.

BNHA-verse facebook. snapchats. twitter. tumblr. people are uploading all their footage and their pictures. people are making compilations. dog owners post pictures of their dogs, safely returned within the week, and usually newly washed and with an extra box of dog treats. newspapers and tv shows go wild with their headlines and puns. it’s a fuckin media circus.
for what it’s worth, the news stations interviews the dog owners and ask how they feel about izuku stealing their dogs.
“oh, he didn’t really steal them,” they say. “he asked us after we signed up if we would be fine with him pretending to steal our dogs, just as a grand finale. some people said no, and he respected that.”
“why did you say yes?”
“for a laugh,” / “i thought it would be funny.” / “because i trust him.”

the official dog show website is shut down, but a fan remakes it as a memorial for the great dog show theft of XXXX.
