I made my name on AUs where I replace Tsuna but let it be known that I love him so much. He has such a genuine heart to him even though he’s weak-willed and bitter.

people who spend all their time complaining about a situation they refuse to remove themselves from are annoying, but he’s so young and has so much self-awareness, you get the feeling that he’s fully aware how annoying it is and tries to avoid voicing his more mundane complaints. There’s a constant thread of anxiety and malcontent in everything he does, and the fact it vanishes when he’s around his friends gives the fact he’s willing to kill god to save the people he cares about – even though he’s fully willing to just drop dead if it’s permitted of him – a real punch

He has so much pent-up negativity and like 70% of it is plain old Teen Angst but there’s a remarkable pull in how he’s shy and tepid and constantly picking at his failures, yet he has a really high moral standard and has the uncanny ability to never have his personality shaken, to the point that other characters begin to note that this is kind of strange. He told a mafia boss “sorry, I quit” because “friends” is so high on his moral compass and he’s so unshakeable in his base motivations that he converted himself into an immovable object. I’d imagine this is extremely perplexing to those who might have assumed he was a wishy-washy mild-mannered easy mark

Beyond that, despite how inhuman his emotional bounceback rate is, he’s really grown? He gradually pivots away from lingering over his failures and starts striving for the future, treating the people around him kinder, having more patience with others, etc. Even though he’s still the same base template you really get the impression his heart is always moving forward, and not just in terms of Strength or the degree he loves his friends. He’s actively packing away his unhealthy mentalities and thinking seriously about what he wants in life! This 14-year-old anime boy?? Goals

I suppose its a disservice to replace him with someone who’s personality is bound to his surroundings (Detsuna) or an ACTUALLY normal person (Kou) but I think Tsuna defines the story with his presence despite being a passive character and any addition to the plot who doesn’t have the sheer force of personality of Reborn would just end up falling into lockstep with Tsuna unless you stripped Tsuna of who he is.
