“My folks both have dementia. They are living in a facility in Washington State that provides them with more than adequate care, but their insurance has run out.. Medicaid is poised to take over but the facility will not accept it until their balance owing is at zero.
My sisters and I have pushed ourselves to the limit just to try to cover the gap between what the insurance would cover and the fast-rising cost of their care, now more than $10,000 a month. We’ve poured tens of thousands of dollars of our own into the facilities coffers, and exhausted my folks’ limited resources.
I hate having to do this. The ask is huge, I know. And the time limit is absurd. But we only have until the 25th to raise a significant sum.”
the costs of my grandparents living has been tough on all of us, even me – i can’t afford to go to school any more partially because of this (and partially because i don’t want to dig a grave made of private debt!) and my father and his siblings have not been able to live comfortable for years now. this country does not care about anyone’s health, really, and it pisses me off. please share and help if you can – thank you.
